Yasmin Shah – Founder and CEO
Yasmin Shah is a seasoned executive and an entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in launching, transforming and growing companies. The common thread that runs through the colorful tapestry of her career is her passion to grow. The eclectic mix of her experience includes: an Electrical Engineering degree, executive management position at IBM, Chief Information Officer for a high tech company, Owner/CEO of franchise hair salons, Angel investor, coach/mentor to young entrepreneurs, President of board of 3 non-profit companies, and co-founder of 4 companies. Yasmin is founder and president of the Society of Information Management (SIM) San Diego Chapter. She is passionate about paving the way for the older adults whom she calls seenagers— one who has seen a lot in life and is aging vibrantly. She is also an author of a fiction “Experience: Caregiver’s Journey”, which is loosely based on her experiences with non-profits serving seniors over the last decade and her own experiences as a family caregiver for her parents.
Angel Westerman – Board Chairperson
Angel Westerman is a seasoned executive Director committed to Successful Aging. Her focus has been on the spectrum of aging from Villages to Assisted Living. She currently is Executive Director of Plaza Village Senior Living and Executive Director Emeritus of Tierrasanta Village of San Diego. Her passion for seniors and strong operational and leadership experience combine in her mission to both reform the assisted living arena and create new villages for the aging population. Angel has 25 years of experience in healthcare and 5 years in assisted living. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from San Diego State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, emphasis in Finance. She is CEO and owner of Dependable Daughter a company that makes managing incontinence a little less stressful for seniors and their caregivers.
Kenneth Bechtel – Treasurer
Kenneth held the position of Senior Fiscal Analyst with Neighborhood House Association, one of the largest non-profit organizations in San Diego County. He also served on the Finance Committee for the association. As Senior Fiscal Analyst, Kenneth was responsible for all financial and accounting aspects of the Nutrition Services Department which served over one million meals each year to underprivileged children and seniors throughout San Diego County. Ken has been successful in grant writing and administering grant awards. He holds a BA in Biology and a BA in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Nevada – Reno.
Teddy Shah – Board Advisor
Teddy is senior Vice President at Optum Healthcare. He is a senior business executive specializing in translating population health management to value for healthcare clients by improve overall health system performance: optimizing care quality, reducing total cost of care, improving the consumer experience, and growing revenues. Experienced in driving multi-billion-dollar gains through large scale transformation, business unit optimization and applied innovation. Proven change leader with success managing and creating growth businesses while delivering on the quadruple aim. Passionate about leading and developing teams, building relationships, and collaborating to deliver cross enterprise outcomes.
Cheryl Lawler – Board Member
Cheryl Lynch Lawler is a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst on the faculty of the Saint Louis Psychoanalytic Institute where she previously has served as President, Clinical Director and Academic Dean. She is currently serving as Chair of the Committee on Psychoanalysis, Spirituality, and Transformation and as Secretary of the Board of Directors. She supervises the clinical work of clinical candidates in psychoanalytic training and teaches a wide variety of courses, including Contemporary Dream Theory, and Spirituality and Psychoanalysis. She has written and published papers on a range of interdisciplinary subjects, including psychoanalysis and the divine. In addition to her clinical degree in Social Work, she has a Ph.D. in Transformative Studies.
Brad Phillips – Chief Information Officer
Brad Phillips has over 40 years’ experience in the information technology field, and has served as head of IT for seven organizations. His experience spans education, automotive manufacturing robotics and heart surgery, but has centered on the life sciences. Brad currently services as an information technology consultant, specializing in strategy and compliance for Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, and Medical Device organizations. In this consulting role, he has helped clients prepare for their first FDA inspections, optimize practices and procedures, support M & A activity, and assisted in system selection, implementation and validation. Mr. Phillips earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
